1995 Toyota Paseo Review

Offers a nice driving experience and few headaches in the maintenance department, but it can be a challenge for larger people.

Reviewed by Automotive on

The 1995 Toyota Paseo is well known for its loyal customer base, which is more impressed with its handling and style than the lack of interior space. With plenty of character and a few nice standard features, it would make a great used car purchase as a first car or as an option for more than easy to accommodate fuel and maintenance requirements.

The Range

Body style: coupe
Engines: 1.5-liter four-cylinder
Transmissions: five-speed manual
Models: Toyota Paseo

What's New

The 1995 Toyota Paseo was detuned in several states in order to comply with stricter emission laws.

The 1995 Toyota Paseo offers crisp, clean lines in the well designed coupe. This car features 14-inch wheels and a relatively low curb weight. The sloped front end gives it a streamlined look, and the Toyota logo is found in the center of the grille. The squared back end and trunk in addition to providing interior space, also lend a definitive, strong appearance to an otherwise small car. While it won’t have hordes of people flocking to it, it does have an attractive appearance. Optional features included moon roof, alloy wheels, and a rear spoiler.

When it comes to the 1995 Toyota Paseo's cabin, the one thing to understand is that space is at a premium. There are certainly smaller cars on the market, but it is a challenge for larger, taller people to get in and out as well as to ride comfortably. The cloth upholstery is nice and the front bucket seats offer plenty of comfort. The inside is also equipped with power steering. There were several optional features offered as well. It's equipped with cruise control, center console, and a CD audio system when ordered.

Performance & Handling

The 1995 Toyota Paseo was designed to be an effective coupe for the active person or small family and it met those requirements admirably. It isn’t the fastest or highest performing model available, but for the money, it is a good choice. Its fuel economy is impressive and the 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine offers 100 hp and 91 lb-ft of torque.

Like many cars of the model year, the 1995 Toyota Paseo offered a few effective safety features. This particular model was equipped with power brakes and a front driver’s airbag. Four-wheel ABS was offered as an option along with anti-theft alarm system.
