- Smooth Ride
- Great Gas Mileage
- Price too high
The Prius is a popular choice for a reason. In my neighborhood every third driveway has a Prius, and I did not want to be one following the crowd, but I did my homework and discovered that my neighbors are right. The Prius is a smooth, quiet and comfortable ride. The air conditioning system is the quietest most effective I've experienced yet. Controls are smooth and user friendly, everything moves like butter. The seats looked like they would be incredible uncomfortable, yet it is the vehicle our family chooses for long drives not just because of the great milage, but because it is comfortable to pile into. The trunk is roomier than we expected, and we find it completely adequate for packing for a weekend at the beach. One would think the Prius would handle like a tinker toy. Not so. It has more the adequate power, and shifting between gas and electric is smooth and unnoticeable. The price point is a bit high, so we are pleased at the near-luxury feel to the Prius, but the cost is not offset by gas savings. Not within the first several years anyway. We do a lot of low-speed local driving during our small commutes, trips to the store, sports practices etc so we can go a month without filling up. Again that does not offset the purchase price increase over a standard car, but it is so nice to to be making those gas station trips. And we feel good about helping to minimize the environmental impact of our traveling, and overall enjoy the Prius for what it is: a comfortable functional family vehicle.
