Toyota's nimble and versatile compact SUV, the 2010 RAV4, is one year removed from an update that featured a redesigned front fascia and taillights.
The base engine is a 2.5-liter inline-4, sending 179 horsepower through a 4-speed automatic transmission. The up-rated 3.5-liter V6 sends 269 horsepower to a 5-speed automatic. Power is sent to the front wheels or available all wheel drive.
Fuel economy for the RAV4 ranges from 19 miles per gallon city, up to 28 miles per gallon highway.
Enhancing the 5-passenger RAV4's off-road capabilities are available Hill Start Assist Control and Down Hill Assist Control- two valuable tools when dealing with hilly back-country terrain.
Initial base MSRP for the 2010 Toyota RAV4 is $21,500. A nicely-equipped Sport model will cost around $27,000, while a fully loaded Limited trim will cost about $35,000. The RAV4 is backed by a 5-year, 60,000-mile powertrain warranty.
With sporty styling, innovative driver assistance technology, and a choice of engines offering power and fuel economy, the 2010 RAV4 is a standout performer in the compact SUV segment.
