Pontiac GTO Information
The Pontiac GTO, first manufactured from 1964 to 1974, is an American automotive legend. Beginning the muscle car trend in America, the original GTO was released as either a two door coupe or convertible. Today's generation, manufactured from 2004 to 2006, retains the powerful V8 engines associated with the muscle car trend. Pontiac's new GTO design is based on the Australian marketed Holden Monaro coupe, and some critics have questioned the lack of innovative design. Fuel efficiency is poor; however, performance is excellent thanks to a 400hp LS2 V8 engine that offers 400 lb-ft of torque. Rear wheel drive consistent with the tradition of the muscle car provides plenty of control, while modern technology further enhances the coupe's performance. While the trunk is small, the front seats are comfortable. The Pontiac GTO may be a good sports coupe selection for a driver wanting a modern taste of American muscle car history, with its powerful V8 engine and smooth rear wheel drive.
