Saturn Corporation is a subsidiary of General Motors, and was established in 1985 during a time when Japanese car manufacturers were becoming a big deal in the United States. This brand was supposed to compete with the new Japanese cars in the American and Canadian markets, and was structured similarly to Japanese auto manufacturers, with laborers allowed more control of the plant. The first Saturn was manufactured in 1990, with a distribution network that was created from scratch for the division and an emphasis on customer service. This division was focused on created a no-hassle, customer friendly environment with retailers instead of dealers and professional, friendly staff. Vehicles are sold at list price, and customer satisfaction is very high with this mid-priced brand of automobile.
