I'm the third owner of this Golf, and got it with a little over 100k miles. I'm approaching 130k and ownership has been relatively drama free. It's got a 1.8-liter turbo, and I find it fun and sporty, while still netting a little over 23mpg without going out of my way to conserve fuel. I love the simple and classic styling. The interior features comfortable cloth seats (heated in front) and I like the look of the dash, especially illuminated at night. The trunk is surprisingly roomy, and the rear seats fold if I need to store long or awkward objects. The 2001 Golf is fun, economical, and sporty.
