The 2006 Volkswagen Phaeton wears the VW badge proudly. It is the flagship sedan of the German automaker first produced for the European market in 2003. The Volkswagen Phaeton is manufactured in Dresden, Germany. Built primarily of glass windows, the factory is described as transparent, but it is more than appropriate for assembling such a nontraditional Volkswagen automobile.
The Volkswagen Phaeton has a 118-inch wheelbase that gives the sedan more than ample room for rear and front passengers. Stretching almost 204 inches in length and 57 inches high, it nearly replicated the look of other sedans in the segment. 2006 Volkswagen Phaeton primary features are separate temperature controls, onboard computer system, lots of safety features, all-wheel drive, and humidity sensors on the climate control.
Undisputable value makes the 2006 Volkswagen Phaeton one of the highest caliber of full-size luxury sedans. The 2006 Volkswagen Phaeton comes with two different engine options. There is the 4.2-liter V-8 that produces 335 horsepower, and a six-liter W12 that generates 444 hp. The mate for the V-8 is an automatic six-speed transmission capable of a manual shift, while the W12 has an automatic five-speed with the same manual shifting options. All of the 2006 Volkswagen Phaetons are standard all-wheel drive and are limited to the highest speed of 135 mph.
