The 2011 Volvo C70
is a smart-looking convertible with a retractable hard top that received major updates to its interior and exterior this year. Equipped with a five-cylinder turbocharged 227 horsepower engine delivering 236 pound-feet of torque mated to a five speed automatic transmission, the Volvo C70 now looks more like other Volvos in terms of style.
The Volvo C70 has two trim levels, the S60 and the XC60. Updates to the exterior include a larger badge, a new larger front grille, new headlamps, and newly constructed front fenders. The car's rear now has LED taillights attached to a newer rear fascia. The interior received plenty of gadgets, nice textures, satellite radio, and awesome leather. The C70 is blessed with Volvo's excellent safety systems and doesn't do too badly on gas with a 20 mpg city / 28 mpg highway fuel economy rating.
New for 2011
For 2011, the Volvo C70 received substantially revised styling which included a freshened nose, grille, front fenders, headlights, rear fascia, and LED taillights. The Volvo C70 interior has been updated as well with a new dashboard, textures, premium leather, and unique gauges. Furthermore, the 5-speed automatic transmission is now standard and 17-in alloy wheels, Siruis satellite radio, and new colors, Flamenco Red and Ember Black, have been added. On the Outside
The Volvo C70 enjoyed a significant visual upgrade for 2011, including a redesigned grille, headlight assemblies, front fenders, rear fascia, and LED taillights. Whether its lid is up or down, the C70 folding hardtop convertible boasts sleek lines.
From the Inside
The redesigned interior of the Volvo C70 features an all-new instrument panel, improved textures for the molded surfaces, a premium grade of leather, and unique gauges. A predictable shortcoming is rear seat space.
The Volvo C70 offers only one power train, the 227 horsepower 5-cylinder turbo coupled to a 5-speed automatic transmission, capable of launching the C70 to 60 mph in a respectable 7.4 seconds. While the C70 is a pleassant car to drive, the extra weight of a folding hardtop is a drawback.
Standard safety equipment for the Volvo C70 includes unique side curtain airbags constructed to provide some protection even with the windows down and remain inflated long enough to be useful in a rollover.
