What's New

The 1998 Volvo S70 has a totally redesigned interior. Controls are more conveniently positioned for better usability. Power switches for windows, locks, and mirrors are now located on the driver’s door panel. The front exterior has also received a new look with a racy style that sets the S70 apart from other basic Volvo sedans.

Exterior

The Volvo S70 is a midsize sedan with an overall length of 185.9 inches. It has alloy wheels and a nice sleek design with a modern front-end style. The S90 has body-colored trim instead of sheet metal clippings, making it more streamlined than earlier sedans.

Interior

The S70 is all about luxury. The car comes standard with leather seats and a leather-covered steering wheel. Additional features include tinted windows, power locks, power windows, and daytime running lights. Other optional features include a trip computer and automatic climate control.

Performance & Handling

The Volvo S70 has plenty of turbo power. It takes a second for the turbocharger to spool up, but once it starts going, it is fast. The S70 has firm, linear steering and is easy to handle.

Safety

The S70 has many safety features, but most notable is the side-impact protection. The S70 features improved strength of the B-pillars, which cause side airbags to inflate more rapidly during an accident. The steering column is also designed with safety in mind. Driver and passenger airbags come standard, along with daytime running lights and improved pretensioned front seatbelts.

EPA Fuel Economy

Volvo S70: 18/26 mpg city/highway
